the kid behind glitch v4.

// hi. i'm a kid. i make games in my bedroom.
// i've been doing this for two-ish years and i'm not stopping.
// my goal is simple — make stuff people want to play. then make better stuff.

// just call me glitch.

how i started.

01
TWO YEARS AGO

the spark.

i was playing geometry dash and i thought — wait, someone made this. a real person. they sat at a computer and made it. then i googled how. then i didn't sleep for a week.

02
ONE YEAR AGO

the grind.

scratch became my best friend. i made bad games. then okay games. then a few i was actually proud of. i posted them online and people i didn't know played them. that broke my brain in a good way.

03
RIGHT NOW

the studio.

this site is the studio. glitch v4 means i've rebuilt it 4 times. i'll probably rebuild it again. that's how it works — you ship, you learn, you ship again. v5 is already in my notebook.

"games are fun.
and everyone — i mean everyone —
should get a chance to play."

games that made me
want to make games.

GEOMETRY DASH
by Robert Topala

the one that started it all.
geometric chaos. perfect rhythm.

SONIC SUPERSTARS
by SEGA

fast. blue. fun.
the vibe is everything.

SCRATCH
by MIT Media Lab

the tool. the playground.
where all my games live.

MINECRAFT
by Mojang

blocks. taught me
everything is just a system.

did you know?

// six wild facts about games. all true.

01
// 1958

the first video game was older than your parents.

tennis for two ran on an oscilloscope at a science fair. no computer. no monitor. people lined up for hours to play.

02
// 1981

mario didn't have a name. he was just "jumpman."

in his first game (donkey kong) he had no name and no story. nintendo named him later — after their landlord.

03
// 1980

pac-man was inspired by a pizza.

the creator pulled a slice out of a pizza, looked at the shape that was left, and that's it. that's the whole story.

04
// 1984

tetris was made by one guy in moscow.

alexey pajitnov built it in his spare time on a soviet computer. now it's sold over 500 million copies in every language on earth.

05
// 2009

minecraft is the best-selling game ever.

over 300 million copies. that's more people than live in the united states. all from a guy named notch making blocky worlds.

06
// today

3 billion people play games right now.

that's almost half the planet. games are bigger than movies, music, and books — combined. and we're just getting started.
